Cabbagetown Heritage Conservation District Committee
While the CPA focuses our resources on heritage education and celebration of Cabbagetown and its unique character, the lead for heritage preservation issues belongs to the City of Toronto and is supported by the Cabbagetown HCD Committee. The HCD Committee should be your first contact for heritage preservation issues and questions, such as renovation and restoration guidelines, heritage grants, etc.
See below for more resources available from the Committee.
The Cabbagetown Heritage Conservation District Committee was originally established through the leadership of the CPA. Today, the committee operates as an official heritage advisory body, working in close collaboration with the City’s Heritage Preservation Services (HPS) department, while providing specialized guidance to property owners and renovators on alterations, restoration, and Heritage Conservation District (HCD) policy.
The Cabbagetown HCD Committee serves as a leading community resource for property owners navigating heritage conservation in Cabbagetown. With deep historical knowledge of the neighbourhood as a completed residential HCD, the committee supports appropriate restoration, thoughtful exterior alterations, and long-term stewardship of our extraordinary Victorian streetscapes.
Their role is to help homeowners understand the policies and guidelines of the Heritage Conservation District Plans, while acting as a conduit for informed, community-based feedback to the City of Toronto during the heritage permit process.
